Meet Lisa

Production Accountant

Lisa has been in the film and television industry for the past 15 years. She grew up I St. Petersburg, Florida and attended the University of Florida and the University of South Florida at Sarasota. Her start in the business began by simply answering an ad in The Hollywood Reporter. Projects she has worked on include “Out of Site,” “Super Mario Bros.,” “Near Dark,” “Zeus & Roxanne” and the upcoming “Rebel Ridge.”

What was your favorite project and why? I had many favorite projects over the years but will choose just one… “Near Dark.” This was my first project and also Kathryn Bigelow’s directorial debut. I also had the privilege of working with Bill Paxton. I also worked with stunt director Everett Creach; he took me through the anatomy of jackknifing a semi, blowing it up while inside and how to walk away safely after the explosion.

What is the best part of being a production accountant? I get to use my brain. I love working on many tasks simultaneously. There is autonomy within your own department that I greatly appreciate. You are trusted with many confidential documents and are relied upon to give unbiased information. The production accounting team works with EVERY department on a project. And let’s not forget the joys of being on location and discovering new towns and countries.

What advice would you give someone starting out in the profession? Under promise and over deliver! Be the solution. Respect confidentiality. Honor deadlines. Give accurate information. Stay until the work is done each and every day. Be respectful and kind.
